We continue our series of proposals with a recommendation to visit the Danube Delta and the Black Sea.
For this unique travel experience you will need 7 days to go through the 1670 km proposed for this route.
Continue and find the map of the route along with the description of the touristic objectives proposed by Rulote4Travel to be visited. Here they are:
Cluj – Sighisoara – Brasov – Dunavatu de Jos – Vama Veche – Tranfagarasan – Cascada Balea – Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Salina Turda – Cluj Napoca

Day 1 : Cluj Napoca - Brasov : 273 Km, 4h drive
The first stop can be done in Sighisoara, where in less than 2 hours we can visit the Medieval Fortress, built in the 12th century and still preserved intact since being a UNESCO patrimony since 1999.
The road continues to Brasov through a particularly picturesque area, Bogatii Forest, declared protected area, the area where the road flows through a wonderful landscape to be admired.
After about 4 hours of driving we arrive in Brasov where the historical center is the point of attraction along with one of the most representative architectural monuments in Romania, the Black Church. With 89 meters long and 38 meters wide, it is the largest Gothic-style edifice in South-Eastern Europe.
Here you can sleep in Darste camp near Brasov.
Day 2 : Brasov - Dunavatu de Jos (Delta Dunarii) : 430 Km, 7h drive
We leave Brasov and head for the Danube Delta, but not before stopping near Buzau at Paclele Mari where we visit the Muddy Volcanoes. From here we head towards Braila, where we will cross the Danube by ferry, and then we reach Tulcea, from where in less than an hour we will go to Lower Danube, the most remote place in the Danube Delta where you can get by car.
Once here, we can enjoy the wonderful and unique landscapes in the world that the Danube Delta offers us, along with the culinary delights prepared by the locals from freshly caught fish. The food is prepared every morning.
We recommend at least 3-4 days of camping in this area to reach the main attractions such as:
- Musura Bay – the bird’s heavens
- Letea Forest – a monument of nature
- Sfântu Gheorghe – the last wild beach in the Danube Delta
- Gura Portiţei – the land between the sea and the delta
Day 5 : Dunavatu de Jos - Vama Veche : 205 Km, 2h:45 min drive
After enjoying the delights of the Delta, we arrive to the southernmost resort of the Black Sea in Romania, but also the most appreciated by the lovers of sea and tranquility.
Here we can spend 1-2 days enjoying fine sandy beaches, sunrise and quality music. We find over 10 camping sites arranged but we can also go off camping.
Day 6 : Vama Veche - Transfagarasan - Cascada Balea : 518 Km, 7h drive
From sea directly to the mountain, on the most spectacular road in Romania where we get through Curtea de Arges to the biggest waterfall in Romania with a 60 m fall, Balea Fall. A quiet moment on the Balea Lake shore and a delicious meal at the restaurant on the lake are not to be missed.
Day 7 : Cascada Balea - Cluj Napoca : 244 Km, 3h:40min drive
We return home after 7 days spent in the wonderful landscapes of Romania, descending the Fagaras Mountains to Sibiu where you should not miss the visit to the old center of Sibiu and Alba Iulia, the capital of unification, where the Unirii Hall and the newly renovated center should not be missed, but that’s probably another wonderful journey with the campervan.
